Sales tracking for pet grooming businesses: find your real moneymakers
A busy grooming calendar isn't the same as a profitable one. A dashboard shows which services earn the most per appointment, which add-ons are selling, and which days leave gaps.
Because most groomers work from booking software rather than a retail register, the useful numbers are about appointments: how many, how often clients come back, and what each visit brings in.
What to track
| Revenue per appointment | Shows whether your pricing matches the time each breed and service takes. |
|---|---|
| Service mix | Compares full grooms, baths and tidy-ups to see which carry the week. |
| Add-on sales | Nail trims, teeth brushing and de-shedding treatments add revenue with little extra time. |
| Rebooking rate | Shows how many clients come back within the interval you recommend. |
| Busiest days and open gaps | Helps you fill slow days with reminders or a small incentive. |
What a one-page dashboard looks like for pet groomers
This is a sample for a fictional business, built the way we'd build yours: the headline number first, then the pattern across the week, then the top sellers.

What to look for
- Revenue per appointment matters more than appointment count. A big dog bath may fill the same slot as a smaller, higher-paying groom.
- Watch add-ons as a share of appointments. A small lift there is the cheapest revenue you can add.
- If rebooking is low, the fix is usually a reminder system, not a discount.
Data that usually works for pet groomers: exports from Square Appointments, other booking software, or a spreadsheet or paper calendar you can type up.
How to get your sales data out
Menu names change, so if you can't find these, tell us what system you use and we'll point you to the right place.
- Square: in your Square Dashboard, open Reports, choose a sales report and use Export.
- Shopify: in the Shopify admin, open Orders and use Export, or export from a report under Analytics.
- Etsy: in Shop Manager, go to Settings, then Options, then Download Data, and choose orders.
- Clover, Toast and other registers: look for a Reports or Export option and choose CSV or Excel.
- A spreadsheet or notebook: type up a few weeks with the date, what sold and the amount. That's enough to start.
You don't need to send customer names, emails, phone numbers or card details. We'd rather you leave them out.
Questions
I use a paper appointment book. Can you still help?
Often yes. If you can type up a few weeks of appointments (or photograph them with client names and phone numbers covered) with the date, service and price, we can build a starter dashboard and show you what to track going forward.
Can you track clients by name?
You don't need to send client names. An anonymous client ID or just the appointment details is enough for most of the views.
Do you work with mobile groomers?
Yes. The dashboard works from appointment data, whether you work from a shop or a van.
