Privacy policy
Groundwork Metrics is run by one person; "we" and "us" here mean Groundwork Metrics. This policy explains what information Groundwork Metrics collects through this website and when we do work for you, how we use it and the choices you have. We're a small business based in Tempe, Arizona, and we aim to collect as little as we can.
What we collect
- Nothing from the free tools. The calculators and the profit leak checklist run entirely in your browser. What you type into them isn't sent to us or stored by us.
- Information you give us. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, business name and anything you write.
- Files you send for a report or dashboard. If you order a profit report or ask for a free dashboard, we receive the exports and answers you send, such as a Shopify orders export, product costs, ad spend or a sales export. Orders exports can contain customer names, emails and addresses. You don't need to send those, and we ask you to delete those columns before sending if you can. We never need payment card numbers, passwords or access to your store, and you should never send them.
- Orders placed on Fiverr. Profit reports are ordered and paid through Fiverr. Fiverr handles your account, payment and order messages under its own privacy policy. We don't receive your card details.
- Basic website usage data. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It doesn't use cookies or track you across websites, and it reports aggregate information such as pages viewed, referring site, country, browser and device type. Our website host, Netlify, also processes server logs (such as IP address) and performance measurements to deliver and secure the site.
Cookies
We don't set cookies on this website and we don't run advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
How we use information
- To reply to your message or request.
- To build and deliver your profit report or dashboard, answer questions about it and make revisions.
- To keep the website working and understand which pages are useful.
- We don't add people to a mailing list. If we ever send a marketing email, it will identify us, include our contact details and let you opt out, as the CAN-SPAM Act requires.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information and we don't share it with third parties for their marketing. We use a few service providers to run the business: Fiverr (ordering, payment and order messages for profit reports), Netlify (website hosting and form handling), Cloudflare (website analytics), Zoho (email), and spreadsheet, file and AI-assisted tools (such as Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel and Anthropic's Claude) to help clean data and build reports. They process information on our behalf, and we don't use them to publish or share your data. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Messages and inquiries: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Files for a profit report: deleted within 30 days after delivery.
- Files for a free dashboard: if you don't continue after it, deleted within 30 days of delivering it. If you become a monthly client, we keep your data while the service continues and delete it within 30 days after you end it.
- You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
Security
We use reputable providers, limit who can see your data (currently the person running Groundwork Metrics) and keep files only where we need them. We never ask for your store login. No method of storing or sending data is perfectly secure, so please share only what's needed.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it or delete it, or stop contacting you, by emailing hello@groundworkmetrics.com. We'll respond within 45 days. Residents of some states, including California, have additional privacy rights. We honor these requests from anyone, wherever you live. We don't sell or share personal information as those laws define them.
Children
Our services are for businesses and aren't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Third-party links
This site links to other sites, such as Fiverr, Shopify's help center, the sources we cite and our Instagram page. Their privacy practices are their own.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the change is significant, we'll say so on this page.
