A sales dashboard for makers and small-batch producers

Updated October 12, 2026 · Groundwork Metrics

If you sell on Etsy, at markets and wholesale, your numbers live in three places. A dashboard combines them, so you can see which channel earns the most and which products deserve your next batch.

For makers, the useful question is usually where to spend limited production time. Channel and product views answer that better than a single revenue total.

What to track

Revenue by channelCompares online, markets and wholesale so you know where your hours pay off.
Best sellers by productShows what to make more of and what to retire.
Market-day performanceShows which events earn their booth fee.
Seasonal trendsShows when demand rises, so production starts before the rush.
Order size and repeat ordersShows whether wholesale accounts reorder.

What a one-page dashboard looks like for makers

This is a sample for a fictional business, built the way we'd build yours: the headline number first, then the pattern across the week, then the top sellers.

What to look for

  • Count your booth fee and travel time before calling a market day a success.
  • A product that sells steadily on Etsy but never at markets may suit shipping better than a table.
  • Wholesale orders are lumpy. Look at them over a quarter, not a week.

Data that usually works for makers: exports from Etsy, Shopify, Square (for markets), a wholesale invoice spreadsheet, or a mix.

How to get your sales data out

Menu names change, so if you can't find these, tell us what system you use and we'll point you to the right place.

  • Square: in your Square Dashboard, open Reports, choose a sales report and use Export.
  • Shopify: in the Shopify admin, open Orders and use Export, or export from a report under Analytics.
  • Etsy: in Shop Manager, go to Settings, then Options, then Download Data, and choose orders.
  • Clover, Toast and other registers: look for a Reports or Export option and choose CSV or Excel.
  • A spreadsheet or notebook: type up a few weeks with the date, what sold and the amount. That's enough to start.

You don't need to send customer names, emails, phone numbers or card details. We'd rather you leave them out.

Questions

Can you combine Etsy and market sales?

Yes. Etsy exports a file of orders, and market sales can come from Square or a simple spreadsheet. We combine them by date and product.

I only keep sales in a notebook. Is that enough?

If you can type up a few weeks of it, with date, item, amount and where you sold it, we can build a starter dashboard from that.

Do you handle cost of materials?

The free dashboard focuses on sales. If you send material costs, we can add a simple margin view for your top products.
